FEATURE ARTICLES

The Green Standard Bearer. During the time of Prince Maurits of Orange, then 22 year old Jan van der Merwede lived with his family in Vianen. Proud and with great promise he served his family and country as the Standard Bearer in the regiment of Cassiopijn in the year 1624.

House on the Merwede. From the bridge over the river Merwede can be seen the ruin of the castle of the Lords van der Merwede. There is no longer much of the castle remaining but what does remain shows the magnificence that once stood there.
